Students restore heritage structures

Civil Engineering and Surveying students are thrilled to bolster the national Department of Arts and Culture and other heritage authorities to overcome the common challenge facing heritage structures caused by the use of incompatible materials during heritage conservation and restoration.

As we celebrate Heritage Month, Dr Bongani Ncube, a researcher at the Centre for Water and Sanitation Research, under the Department of Civil Engineering and Surveying devotes her time to working with communities to conserve our natural resources, be it soil, water or plant life.

CPUT’s Centre for Sustainable Oceans is playing an integral role in the development of Ocean Accounting practices in Africa under its membership of the Global Ocean Accounting Partnership (GOAP).

A dedicated senior academic has led to the establishment of the first university department on the African continent that focuses exclusively on the education and training of paralegals, as part of the transformation of the administration of justice.

Faculty of Education Lecturer Samantha Kriger, in collaboration with her co-author and PhD supervisor, Prof Jonathan Jansen, will be launching her first book, ‘Who Gets in and Why?’ on Wednesday, 26 August 2020.

Postdoctoral fellow Dr Naeem Sheik Abdul recently won first place in the science poster awards of the virtual Summer School on Innovative Approaches in Science.

Guiding postgraduates to graduation
