AdvDip: (advanced diploma)



Graduates are equipped to enable registration as a Candidate Senior Interior Designer, capable of designing and detailing the interior of multi-storey buildings, independently researching technological detail and bespoke joinery. Competency of an interior designer would include the design and technological detailing of internal building alterations, which respond to relevant and appropriate interior design solutions. Their skills will include the design and management of public and private sectors within the built environment.

Graduates can apply to the African Institute of Interior Design Professionals (IID), to enable registration as a Candidate Senior Interior Designer.

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

The Candidate Senior Interior Designer is responsible for the application of technological working drawing package which accurately documents the design. The main activities associated with this field are the design development and production of drawings, detailing, presentation of drawings, model making, site supervision and monitoring and liaison with clients, engineers, municipalities, quantity surveyors and contractors.

Once the necessary experience has been gained, the Candidate Senior Interior Designer is able to competently handle small to medium size work independently. This would, for example, include retail, corporate, hospitality, public sector buildings or educational interior development.

MODE OF DELIVERY

This part-time programme is offered through block-release, in a blended format that involves online learning, on-campus blocks and work-based mentoring. Employment in interior design practice or architectural office is compulsory.
