A/Prof LJ (Nic) Theo



Nic Theo’s focus is on communication studies directed at narrative and gender/sexuality in media. During more than ten years in post-PhD scholarship he has produced a number of international peer-reviewed journal articles and conference papers, and a monograph on screenwriting, added to which he has substantial peer editing and review experience and post-graduate supervision experience.

A/Prof Izak van Zyl

PhD Communication Science (Università della Svizzera italiana)


Izak has an MA in Social Anthropology from the University of Stellenbosch (South Africa) and a PhD in Communication Science from the Università della Svizzera Italiana, Switzerland. Following a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of South Africa, he joined the Cape Peninsula University of Technology in 2015. He is currently an Associate Professor of Transdisciplinary Studies in the Faculty of Informatics and Design. Izak has a strong publication record in the field of the communication sciences, and his predominant research interests include digital anthropology and media, the philosophy and ethics of informatics, and design anthropology. Methodologically, he is interested in digital ethnographic, participatory, and meta-analytic approaches.

Research and supervision experience:

A/Prof Ephias Ruhode

DTech in Information Technology


Ephias has a DTech in Information Technology, and has been an Associate Professor of Transdisciplinary Studies in the Faculty of Informatics and Design since 2017 where he has served as Acting Faculty Research Coordinator and Acting Head of the Strategic Initiatives and Partnerships Office. Ephias has a strong publication record in Informatics, with research interests that include ICT4D, Digital Society, Community Informatics, e-Government, Sustainable ICTs, and e-Health.
