Our attempts to resume work today have been sabotaged by a group of students on the Bellville campus.

All CPUT campuses will be closed on Monday 26 October because of continued threats of protest action.

As a result of recent nationwide protest action CPUT will remain closed on Friday 23 October.

Late yesterday evening The Cape Peninsula University of Technology was successfully granted a court order against no-fee protestors who have caused substantial damage to institutional property.

To ensure the safety of all CPUT staff and students classes and work have been suspended for Thursday 22 October.

The issue of renaming the Cape Town campus may be a thorny one but Vice-Chancellor Dr Prins Nevhutalu says it is our obligation to act.

CPUT stands to benefit from the New Generation of Academics (nGAP) programme, an initiative of the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) that aims to produce a new generation of academics who will replace retiring staff members.
