CPUT commemorates World Aids Day

The CPUT HIV/Aids Unit commemorated World Aids Day with a candle light vigil this week to remember the lives of people who died of Aids and to give hope to the families affected by the disease.

HIV campaign targets male students

A three-day HIV counseling and testing campaign targeting male students and their partners is underway at the Cape Town Campus.

Motivated by its mission to promote a healthy lifestyle, the CPUT HIV/Aids Unit ran a workshop to educate football players in Khayelitsha about their role as partners in sexual relationships.

Charging forward with its commitment to an HIV free generation, the CPUT HIV/Aids unit recently held a welcoming ceremony for all its peer educators at Mowbray Campus.

TEAMWORK: HIV/Aids Unit head, Professor Ashraf Mohammed, and his staff’s morale got a major boost when their work got recognition from an independent foundation.

Professor Ashraf Mohammed, head of the CPUT HIV/Aids Unit was recently awarded by an independent foundation for spearheading programmes which strive towards achieving excellence in the HIV/AIDS programs.

Community engagement success

INNOVATION: The CPUT soccer team assembled by the HIV/Aids Unit used soccer to convey the Aids message to Malmesbury Prison’s inmates at the prison.

The CPUT HIV/Aids Unit has taken community engagement to another level by assembling a soccer team to play against prisoners at the Malmesbury Correctional Service.
