Full scholarships worth close to a million rand have been awarded to 11 first year students by the National Youth Development Agency (NYDA). The delighted students, drawn from the IT, Food and Beverage, Hospitality Management, Tourism and Mechanical Engineering Departments, will now have the privilege of concentrating solely on their studies, without worrying about any financial pressures.

It has been a bumper quarter at CPUT’s Advancement Department, who have helped raise millions in bursary funding for needy students.

Support My School Card Campaign

CPUT Vice-Chancellor, Dr Prins Nevhutalu, is leading the bid to get as many CPUT staff, students and supporters as possible to buy-in to the My School Card Campaign.

The generosity of the Ackerman Family Educational Trust is proving to be a great boost to Industrial Design’s exciting project to develop universally designed products for the disabled.

Tucked away on the fifth floor of the Admin building on CPUT’s Cape Town Campus, you’ll find a small unit, the Advancement Department, which packs a mega-punch. Tasked with supporting all who teach and learn at the University by raising funds, in cash or kind, the Department’s new Director, Calvin Maseko, has been in the fundraising and business development field for 16 years.

It was a night of celebration for CPUT’s alumni – tinged with a note of sadness and respect as Prof Mazwi-Tanga’s tenure as Vice-Chancellor of the university draws to a close.
