The event, which was held at the Auditorium on the Bellville Campus, was organised by the Faculty of Applied Sciences’ Communication and Language Unit.
Krog said the poems recited were from an anthology that formed part of a translation project at UWC during which classic texts in indigenous languages were translated into English.
The reading was followed by a student panel discussion on a range of topics including what it means to decolonise Higher Education.
Prof Joseph Kioko, acting Dean of the Faculty, said CPUT’s values embrace Ubuntu, mutual respect and equity.
“It is our diverse heritage that makes us strong, it is our diverse heritage that makes us resilient, it is our diverse heritage that makes us us,” said Kioko.
He thanked Dr Ignatius Ticha and his team for organising the event.
