Online application system a hit with students survey shows

A new survey has revealed that prospective students find CPUT’s online application system to be user-friendly and are satisfied with the process.

The Online Application Survey report, which was released by the Department of Institutional Planning recently, revealed that the online tool is easy to use and that the respondents recommend it to their friends.

The respondents said the online method is a user-friendly application tool for which support in the form of a Help document and FAQs is good. They also said it is quicker than applying manually, saves money for travelling costs, and that being able to track one’s application status is a good feature.

The survey, which was conducted in March 2018, gathered information about the opinions of applicants that had made use of the online system.

The Academic Administration Directorate, under Director Khuselwa Marala, commissioned the survey.

It forms part of their efforts to gather useful information about the tool in order to ensure informed practices, which allows CPUT to take cognisance of their stakeholder feedback on services that are rendered at the university.

The findings from this study revealed that even though most students were satisfied with the services offered by the online application system, a deeper consideration of the dimensions of quality services needed to be improved.

The first phase of the online application project went live on 1 September 2016 and allowed only new first-year students to make use of the system.

Non-South African citizens, South African citizens with Non-South African qualifications or Recognition for Prior Learning applicants are not yet able to make use of the system.

CPUT applications for 2019 will be opening on 21 May 2018.
