Strengthening relations

Global exchange: CPUT recently hosted faculty members from Weifang Vocational College in China

CPUT recently hosted a delegation from a leading university in China.

The successful trip saw the group of four delegates from the Weifang Vocational College in Shandang Province meet with various faculty members and Heads of Departments.

The Chinese delegation included the University’s President Chen Renjie, Director Tan Ming and Dean of Agriculture Han Shidong. Each spoke about the tremendous promise an educational exchange between the two institutions would present.

With the aim of building solid international relations, the visit endeavored to discuss challenges that face international students and how each university dealt with problems that may arise, such as language barriers.

“This visit highlights the great importance of strengthening relations between Chinese institutions and CPUT,” says Director of the Office of International Affairs, Merle Hodges.

Highlighting the importance of partnerships and the value for faculty members and students, the delegation spoke about the importance of their respective countries’ roles in developing economies and international relations.

“This visit allows for the internationalization of higher education. And presents the perfect opportunity to discuss frameworks,” says DVC for Research Innovation and Partnerships, Dr Chris Nhlapo.
