Industrial use of Energy Conference

LIGHTS ON: Renewable energy is one of the topics that will be discussed at a CPUT conference.

CPUT is gearing up to host its 9th Industrial and Commercial Use of Energy, which will take place early next month.

This popular conference presents a platform for academics and members of industry to discuss and debate the latest developments in the effective use of energy in the industrial and commercial sector.

Prof Nico Beute, from CPUT’s Energy Institute, who is at the helm of the conference’s organizing committee, says topics of discussion have always reflected South Africa’s energy needs.

Topics high on this year’s conference agenda include energy management, energy tariffs and policies, renewable energy and demand side management.

This conference will also feature a number of high-profile speakers, including Minister of Energy, Dipuo Peters, who will present the key note address.

Prof Beute says this year delegates will also be able to attend a workshop on LED lightning, which will be presented by American and Australian experts.

The conference will take place at the Protea Hotel in Stellenbosch from 14 – 16 August.
